Carbon-13 analysis by IRMS

Stable isotopes C-13 in rice plant samples are analyzed using a flash elemental analyzer coupled to isotope ratio mass spectrometer (EA-IRMS).  The technique involves the coupling of flash combustion with a gas chromatograph and isotope ratio mass spectrometer. The following analytes have been determined by this method: 13C delta per mill.

Note: To determine 13C, the sample weight required is at least 3 g of plant sample.
